Suspected catalytic converter thief killed in officer-involved shooting in Sugarland

SUGARLAND – A suspected catalytic converter thief was shot and killed by police in Sugarland Thursday night.
The incident happened on Stadium Drive at around 10:00 pm.

Initially, the Sugarland Police Department responded to reports of catalytic converter theft at outside ab apartment complex.

Officers arrived quickly and located the suspects. A short pursuit ensued and the suspects crashed into the bayou behind the complex.

Officers put a drone up and tracked the suspects.

One of the suspects produced a weapons as officers made contact with him. The suspect was shot by the officers and was life flighted to Memorial Hermann where he succumbed to his wounds.

Search for three other suspects is underway.
