Fire erupts at WA Parish Generating Station in Fort Bend County

HOUSTON – Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a power plant in Fort Bend County Sunday night.

The WA Parish Generating Station owned and operated by NRG Energy is located at 2500 Y.U. Jones Road.

A spokesman told that unit 8, a coal fueled unit that produces steam, caught fire.

Crews extinguished the flames and are currently still putting water on hot spots.

No injuries have been reported in the incident and there was no danger to the community.

The cause of fire and extent of the damage is unknown.
