Major crash after pursuit on Southwest Freeway

HOUSTON – A female driver is in critical condition after crashing her car during a police chase in the 2200 block of Southwest Freeway early Monday.

As per details, HPD officers attempted to stop a swerving car with no lights on. The driver stopped and handed her driver’s license to the officer and then fled.

During the pursuit, the female driver crashed her car into a sign on the feeder road that eventually caught fire.

Officers and a wrecker were able to pull the car from the fire and extinguish the flames. The female driver had to be extricated as she was temporarily trapped in the car as a result of the crash.
