OUSTON – An HPD officer got injured after his patrol vehicle was rear-ended by an off-duty Pasadena police office early Thursday.
The crash happened at about 3 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Sam Houston Parkway East.
Police told that two HPD patrol officers located a Ford explorer stopped in moving lanes of the westbound feeder road. Officers discovered the driver was passed out in the driver seat.
One officer was blocking one of the lanes and the officer was stopped toward the middle lanes. Both patrol units had the emergency lights activated.
Meanwhile, a pickup truck traveling westbound on the feeder road struck one of the HPD patrol units causing the patrol vehicle to hit the civilian vehicle.
An HPD officer sustained injuries inside the patrol vehicle when the crash occurred.
The driver of the pickup truck, who is an off-duty Pasadena police officer, was also transported by ambulance with minor injuries.
At this time the investigation is under way.
