SPRING – A section of the North Freeway reopened Thursday morning after a deadly accident overnight.
It was reported a Dodge Challenger was traveling southbound in the number 2 lane of the North freeway. At the same time, a female ran onto the southbound lanes and started running north towards that Dodge Challenger.
The driver of the Challenger was not able to stop on time and side swiped the female on the passenger side.
Which caused the female to fall onto the ground. She was then hit by multiple cars on the freeway.
No other vehicles stopped except for the Challenger. The female was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.
A witness told that she saw the female leaving one of the establishments across the street from the scene.
Investigators are now looking into whether the victim had been drinking at one of the local restaurants or a bar off the feeder road.
The driver of the Challenger did not show any signs of intoxication and is cooperating with authorities.
