Woman killed, son injured in shooting in Southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A woman has been killed and her son got injured when a suspect opened fire inside their home in Southeast Houston Monday evening. 

Officers received were informed about the shooting around 6:55 p.m. in 11700 block of Segrest Drive. They arrived a few minutes later and discovered two victims at the scene. 

An elderly female was declared deceased at the scene while an adult male, believed to be her son, sustained multiple gunshot injuries. 

He was immediately shifted to the hospital in critical condition. 

According to preliminary information, a black male entered the home and immediately discharged weapon at the elderly female. Her male son came from back of the house when he heard gunshots and he was shot multiple times as well.

The suspect ran from the location after shooting. 

Investigation is underway to determine reason behind the shooting.
