Police chase ends in barricade situation in Second Ward area

HOUSTON – Attempts to stop a speeding truck escalated into a standoff with SWAT in the Second Ward area Thursday night.

According to HPD, officers tried to make a traffic stop after spotting a truck driving recklessly. The driver sped off and two male suspects bailed out of the truck and barricaded themselves behind the garage of a home in the 4400 block of Brady Street.

Officers sent a K9 unit in after hearing a gunshot and were able to get one of the suspect into custody.

The other suspect is still on the run.
