Man shoots brother over residence issue

HOUSTON – A suspect is in police custody after he shot his own brother in the 8700 block of Varner Street Wednesday morning. 

Officers learned the victim and his brother went out drinking at a nearby bar where both got into an argument over their residence. When they got home, the suspect shot his brother twice in the stomach.

The victim has been shifted to a local hospital and is expected to survive. 

Police said the suspect has been detained and a firearm has been recovered from his possession. 

He is facing aggravated assault charges.
