Christmas greetings to troops and puppy antics as Bidens mark Christmas

President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden on Saturday (December 25) addressed members of the six units of the Americans Armed Forces, offering Christmas greetings and thanking them for their service.

The Bidens spoke from an auditorium which was stage dressed to look like a residence, and they were joined by Commander, their new German Shepherd puppy, who needed a few lessons on White House dog protocol.

The Bidens address comes at a time when the average number of new U.S. coronavirus cases has risen 45 percent to 179,000 per day over the past week, according to a Reuters tally.

While recent research suggests Omicron produces milder illness and a lower rate of hospitalizations than previous variants of COVID-19, health officials have maintained a cautious note about the outlook.
