HOUSTON – A driver has been taken into custody after a man was killed during an auto-pedestrian crash in north Harris County on Sunday.
Investigators said the suspect vehicle, a black Kia minivan, was traveling southbound on airline drive and struck another vehicle traveling in the same direction.
The crash caused the suspect vehicle to jump the median, striking the pedestrian who was selling flowers.
The pedestrian was thrown onto another vehicle at the signal in northbound lanes.
The suspect vehicle continued about 200 feet before it was disabled and came to a stop. The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot to a nearby flea market. Off duty officers working an extra job at the flea market were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.
At this time, the suspect is being charged with failure to stop and render aid involving death.
Investigation is underway.
