U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday (November 16) that he expected his “Build Back Better” legislation to be passed within a week’s time.
“I am confident that the House is going to pass this bill. And when it passes, it will go to the Senate. I think we’ll get it passed within a week,” Biden said in a speech on Tuesday.
The $1.75 trillion proposal aims to expand the social safety net in the United States and boost climate change policy.
Biden spoke in Woodstock, New Hampshire in front of the 82-year-old NH 175 bridge which is in need of repair. The bridge, which crosses the Pemigewasset River, was the backdrop for Biden to tout the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill he signed into law on Monday (November 15). Biden said the bill meant “we’re taking a monumental step forward in building back better for this nation.”
He explained various ways the bill could help New Hampshire, including the repair of the NH 175 bridge and 214 other bridges in the state.
