Woman in critical condition after hit-and-run crash near Griggs Road

HOUSTON – A woman is in critical condition after a hit-and-run crash involving four vehicles on the Gulf Freeway. 

According to investigators, a pickup driver slammed brakes as he saw a female running across southbound lanes, causing a four-vehicle chain reaction crash.

A car in the lane to its right struck the pedestrian and sent her flying in front of the pickup. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

HFD treated and transported the female to a nearby hospital where her condition is said to be critical.

HPD VCD unit is investigating the incident.
