Suspect shoots woman multiple times during SWAT standoff

HOUSTON – A SWAT standoff ended after more than four hours with one woman landing in the hospital early Wednesday.

Precinct 4 deputies responded to a home on Atascocita Shores around 11:30 p.m. last night after a woman called 911 for help.

When deputies arrived, they found a man with a rifle holding a woman at gunpoint.

To deal with the situation, the SWAT team was called in for assistance.

After multiple attempts to negotiate with the man, a robot was sent in around 03:09 a.m. and that’s when multiple gunshots were heard.

Deputies said the woman inside was shot multiple times.  She was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition but she is expected to survive.

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
