Suspect at large after woman, teen girl shot in Hempstead area

HOUSTON – Authorities are investigating after a woman and a teen girl were shot and injured in the 1800 block of 3rd street in Hempstead area Tuesday night.

Police said a 45-year-old woman was shot twice, once in the back and once in the chest, while a 16-year-old female was shot in the face.

Hempstead PD Chief David Hartley said that Texas Rangers are on the way to assist with the investigation. He said the Hempstead PD is also being assisted by Waller County Sheriff’s Office.

“We’ve got a lot of manpower on the ground right now,” he added.

Chief Hartley had some information regarding reason behind the shooting but he did not disclose the details to the media.
