Driver in stolen wrecker leads deputies on lengthy chase

HOUSTON – A suspect has been detained after he stole a large wrecker truck and led police on a lengthy change overnight.

The flatbed wrecker was allegedly taken from a wrecker yard along Lyons Avenue around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday.

The Fast Tow company was able to track the stolen wrecker with GPS and notified HPD and Precinct 1 about the incident.

The suspect refused to stop on the Katy Freeway, however, the officers were able to spike the wrecker around Pin Oak Road.

The suspect finally came to a stop at the Pederson Road exit after driving into the ditch.

It was reported the suspect climbed on top of the wrecker before giving up.

He was eventually taken into custody.
