Assault suspect detained after pointing gun at HPD officer

HOUSTON – A suspect accused of attacking woman has been detained after he pointed his gun at a police officer in the Heights Sunday night. 

The incident was reported around 9:30 p.m. in the 1400 block of W 20th Street after HPD officers received a call about an assault in progress in the parking lot adjacent to Moonshine Deck.

The female victim sustained severe injuries in the attack, whereas, the suspect ran away from the scene. 

During the chase, an HPD officer pulled out his gun and fired a shot as the suspect pointed his gun at the officer. 

The suspect was not hit by the gunfire and was taken into custody.

According to HPD, the female victim was transported to a nearby trauma center with considerable injuries to her face. Her condition is said to be stable.
