Woman breaks leg during attempt to escape building fire

HOUSTON – A woman broke her leg after she tried to escape from a burning building in the 2900 block of Elmside Drive. 

The incident was reported around 2:10 a.m. on Monday. 

Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor of a building.

One female occupant was located with a broken leg after she jumping from her balcony. Authorities confirmed that reports of trapped persons inside the apartments were unfounded.

Arson investigators are working to determine cause and origin of the fire.
