Shoplifting suspect killed in deputy-involved shooting outside Walmart

SPRING — Investigation is underway after a shoplifting suspect was shot and killed during exchange of fire with deputy constables outside a Walmart in Spring area late Sunday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred at about 10:30 p.m. in the 21100 of Kuykendahl.

Deputy constables arrived at the location after they were informed about two alleged shoplifters. Arriving officers located the suspects inside a car in the parking lot.

As deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, a passenger jumped out of the vehicle and started shooting at the two deputies.

The two deputies then opened fired on the suspect, killing him on the spot. Both officers remained unhurt.

HCSO is investigating the incident along with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
