Selena’s legacy continues in a new comic book

Twenty-six years after her death, late Tejano singer Selena Quintanilla-Perez continues to be celebrated.

This time TidalWave Productions is releasing a comic book detailing her life in editions printed both in Spanish and English. The glossy is part of the company’s “Female Force” series that also features Dolly Parton and former U.S. first lady, Michelle Obama.

The 22 page book highlights Selena’s upbringing and her rise to fame in the 1980s and 1990s.

The singer, often called the “Mexican Madonna” or the “Queen of Tejano” was only 23-years-old when she was shot and killed by Yolanda Saldívar at a motel in Corpus Christi, Texas on March 31, 1995. Saldívar was found guilty of first-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison and will become eligible for parole in March 2025.

The publication will be released on August 11, 2021.
