HOUSTON – Police have detained a car driver after he struck and killed a motorcyclist in east Houston Monday.
An officer said the Houston Police Department and Houston Fire Department responded to the crash site around midnight.
Arriving units located a male motorcyclist below, on the inbound feeder of Interstate 10, after he was thrown from his bike and over the guard rail of the highway ramp.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The offending driver fled from his vehicle and walked away into the nearby woods.
A short time later, patrol officers located him on the other side of the woods and arrested him. The suspect has since been charged with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid.
