Man shot dead in Fifth Ward

HOUSTON – Search for a suspect is underway after a man was shot and killed in Fifth Ward Tuesday night. 

Lt. Christopher Bruce with the Houston Police Department said the victim was walking with a friend around 9:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of Sakowitz Street when someone opened a fire. 

The victim was struck multiple times, the officer said, adding that officers began performing CPR until HFD arrived and took over.

The male was transported to a nearby trauma center where he succumbed to his injuries.
