Deputy struck by car in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A driver has been detained after injuring a deputy in a hit-and-run incident in southeast Houston.

The Harris County Precinct 2 Deputy Constable’s office said, the veteran Toll Road deputy was out on a traffic stop at the Blackhawk Exit of Eastbound Sam Houston when he was struck by a passing pickup truck.

The pickup driver continued driving after hitting the deputy.

Another deputy located the suspect vehicle on the feeder road a short distance ahead. The driver was detained and could be possible charged for DWI as several cans and bottles of beer were found inside his pickup truck.

The injured deputy was shifted to a nearby trauma center, where his condition is said be stable.
