Aerosmith and UMG forge new alliance

American rock band Aerosmith are announced a global alliance with Universal Music Group on Monday (August 23).

The band, whose hits include “Walk This Way” with Run DMC, and “I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”, will have their entire discography given to UMG.

UMG will also take over responsibility for their merchandise, audio-visual projects, and new releases.

The announcement comes shortly before the band celebrates its 50th anniversary.

They signed a record deal in 1971 and what followed were five often tumultuous decades filled with thousands of concerts, band break-ups, well-chronicled bouts of drug abuse, glorious comebacks and sales of more than 150 million albums worldwide.
