1 killed in major crash during police chase in Humble area

HUMBLE, Texas – One suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was taken to a hospital following a rollover crash during police pursuit in Humble area early Thursday. 

Initially, Humble police responded to a burglary in the 800 block of Wilson Road.

The pursuit began as the suspects took off after spotting the approaching officers, police told. 

“One of our officers did respond to the suspicious vehicle. Upon entering the location and the area, he spotted the vehicle,” Sgt. Jack Burt said. “The vehicle drove around him, to avoid him. Our officer turned around in an attempt to stop him, the vehicle. The vehicle did flee from our officer.”

The suspects traveled about two miles at a high rate of speed. Meanwhile, the driver lost control and flipped the vehicle.

One suspect was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. 

During the investigation process, the intersection was closed for traffic for several hours.
