Suspected shooter among three killed at NW Houston motel: police

HOUSTON – Investigation has been launched after two people were shot and killed inside a motel in northwest Houston.

According to police, the shooting was reported at the Palace Inn on Antoine near 34th Street just after 11 p.m. Sunday.

As officers arrived at the motel, they were immediately met with gunfire from a black male believed to be in his mid 30s.

Two patrol vehicles were struck but officers remained unhurt. The officers returned fire and then made entry inside the motel room where they located the suspect dead.

Police said the man had already shot and killed a man and a woman before officers’ arrival.

“Again, we don’t know the motives of the suspect. We don’t know if the suspect was in a mental health crisis, all that will be part of our investigation,” Executive Assistant Chief Matt Slinkard said. “But you know, officers can find themselves in a very dangerous and volatile situation. Sometimes in just a matter of seconds, and that’s what happened.”

Investigators are reviewing surveillance video at the motel to determined motive of the shooting.
