Suspected burglar detained after pursuit in Houston’s East Downtown

HOUSTON – Police have detained a suspected burglar after a chase and crash in East Downtown early Wednesday.

As per details, HPD officers responded a burglary in progress call. 

Arriving units located a vehicle and two males around another vehicle behind a building. When the suspects noticed the HPD unit driving up, they jumped into their car and sped off.

A pursuit ensued down the 45 Freeway. The suspects exited the freeway and a short time later crashed into a building.

The two male suspects jumped out and fled on foot, however, one suspect was taken into custody quickly.

Meanwhile, a perimeter was set up for the second suspect.

An officer was also involved in the wreck, but no serious injuries have been reported.
