4 suspects involved in car theft detained after police chase

HOUSTON – Four suspects have been detained at N York Street and Griggs Road after a lengthy police chase. 

Both vehicles have been confirmed stolen.

Authorities said HPD units attempted to make a traffic stop on a Nissan sedan in area of Waco Street. The suspect vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit ensued.

Two males fled on foot after their vehicle crashed in the area of York Street and N Hutcheson Street. Meanwhile, two other occupants remained in the vehicle and were detained by the officers.

A perimeter was quickly established in the area. A K9 unit observed one of the suspects run through a field and jump into a Suburban.

Officers attempted to stop that vehicle but the suspect did not stop and a second pursuit ensued. The suspect in the Suburban circle the area near Griggs and the Gulf freeway before coming to a stop at 6895 Griggs Road.

The two male suspects inside the Suburban gave up without incident.

Officers have confirmed that both vehicles were stolen. 

Further investigation is underway.
