Man killed in rollover crash on Highway 288

HOUSTON –  A driver has been killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 288, the South Freeway, early Monday morning.

Police said a man in a Chevrolet Avalanche lost control for unknown reasons and hit a guardrail before flipping into the middle of the northbound lanes. The driver was partially ejected from the wreckage and died at the scene, police said.

Cause of the crash could not be determined yet, however, the vehicular crimes division (VCD) believes speed was a factor.

Northbound lanes of the freeway remained closed for several hours and were fully reopened shortly after 5 a.m.
