U.S. stocks finished lower on Wednesday with three major indexes seeing significant decreases.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 681.50 points, or 1.99 percent, to 33,587.66. The Standard and Poor’s 500 lost 89.06 points, or 2.14 percent, to 4,063.04. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 357.57 points, or 2.67 percent, to 13,031.68.
In terms of sectors, 10 of the 11 Standard and Poor’s 500 sectors fell, while the other one rose. Among them, the consumer discretionary and technology sectors led the declines with 3.28 percent and 2.86 percent, respectively, while the energy sector gained 0.06 percent.
