Lightning blamed for apartment fire on Westview Drive

HOUSTON – Residents at a northwest Houston apartment complex had to evacuate after lightning struck the building late Tuesday, causing a fire.
The incident was reported in the 7000 block of Westview Drive.
It was reported by a resident that he heard a large clap of thunder and felt the apartment shake around 9:45pm.
Resident Chase Reyna said: “We heard a huge clap of thunder to follow but the apartment shook and everything, you know, does an unbelievable sound, pretty much. And then about midnight or, so we hear a knock on our door. A neighbor in the area came and told us there was a fire starting up on the roof.” 
All the occupants were able to exit the apartment safely. 
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene and the fire was put out. 
No one was injured in the incident, according to Houston fire officials.
