HOUSTON – Two Houston police officers were injured after their patrol car got hit in southeast Houston.
According to investigators, parts of I-45 were shut down after the crash the crash happened just before midnight.
As per initial details, two officers reached 7800 block of the Gulf Freeway following a minor crash.
While the officers were keeping the two left lanes blocked with their emergency lights on, a speeding car hit the back of the patrol car with the two officers inside.
The car started to spin out into the middle of the freeway, where it was hit by another vehicle.
According to investigators, both injured officers were moved to the Memorial Hermann Hospital while drivers in other two vehicles were also taken to the hospital.
Houston Police Department Assistant Chief Bashir said a drug division expert has been called to determine if the driver was intoxicated or not.
“We are truly blessed that the officers are doing well and I pray that they have a healthy and fast recovery. They are shaken up, so would anybody else with this type of crash,” Assistant Chief Bashir said.
The crash is being investigated.
