Officer-involved shooting suspects welds knife in NE Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY – Authorities from multiple agencies are investigating after a knife-wielding man was fatally shot by a deputy in northeast Harris County.

According to investigators, a woman contacted police saying her husband was having a mental health crisis at their home in the 5900 block of Sunflower Prairie Court.

The man, identified as 46-year-old Marcelo Garcia, confronted the deputy at the front door with a knife. 

The deputy asked the man to put down the knife, but he refused.

When the man aggressively approached, the deputy attempted to use his taser but it was not effective at that time.  The deputy was forced to fire his weapon killing the male.
