Driver dead after crashing into Houston funeral home

HOUSTON – Police suspect a driver may have been racing before he lost control and fatally crashed into a funeral home in Acres Homes.

The crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on W Montgomery near W. Mt Houston Road.

According to officers, the driver was traveling northbound on W Montgomery, and was informed by witnesses that he may have been racing another vehicle, before he lost control and hit a curb then rolled and landed at the Paradise Funeral Home.

The driver was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

His passenger, a woman, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. She is expected to survive.

Authorities don’t have much information about the other vehicle that may have been involved other than it was white and fled the scene.

Police are looking for surveillance video to see if it captured the other vehicle and its driver.
