4-year-old hospitalized after shooting in an apartment complex in Harris County

HOUSTON – A 4-year-old child was injured and a man is dead after a shooting took place in north Harris County.

The shooting was reported in the 900 block of Cypress Station Drive around 7:19 p.m. on Monday evening.

Police say the child was struck by a stray bullet and rushed to the ER with serious injuries. In a tweet Tuesday morning, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez noted the child was in stable condition.

According to Gonzalez, there were multiple shooters who discharged numerous rounds in the complex damaging several cars but fortunately, no other injuries were reported.

“It appears [the child] was a totally innocent bystander in a separate vehicle at the time when shots rang out,” said Gonzalez.

The suspects remain on the run, and Gonzalez is urging the public to come forward with any information that may assist with the investigation.
