Texas tax preparer arrested after an aggravated assault of a customer

HARRIS COUNTY – A tax preparer in Texas was arrested last week after viral video footage showed her pull out a gun then strike a customer in the head following a heated altercation.

The incident occurred at the MZ BIZ in Houston on March 25, 2021.

Another customer, Marquita Boyle, captured the incident on her cell phone and explained what she witnessed.

Boyle recalled waiting in line when the customer and 46-year-old Latunya Wright began to argue about their tax refund. Boyle said Wright noticed her recording the argument and proceeded to hit her on the head with her gun and snatched her phone to delete the video. Wright then confiscated the phone and hid it in a file cabinet.

“She had the gun pointed at him and then she turned around with the gun, and she actually cocked the gun,” Boyle explained.

Boyle was able to recover the deleted video for authorities.

Wright was taken into custody and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated robbery.
