Couple arrested for sex-trafficking

FORT BEND– A Fort Bend couple are both in custody after allegedly taking in a runaway child, sexually assaulting her then forcing her into prostitution over a four-month period.

Estoshia Roddy, 29, was taken into custody earlier this month following further investigation by the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office. She received sexual assault of a child and aggravated assault charges.

Her boyfriend, Dewayne Demarcus Cook, was taken into custody in December 2019. He was charged with sexual assault of a child, continuously forced prostitution of a child under the age of 18, and unlawful possession of body armor.

According to documents Cook’s victim was under the age of 16 at the time. She allegedly ran away from her home and Cook took her in. Authorities say, during her time in Cook’s care she was repeatedly sexually assaulted by him and sold for sex.

At the moment investigators are working to determine Roddy’s position in this case but they believe she may have sexually assaulted the child as well.
